Overall Personality:
Andromeda is a walking contradiction. She has a lot of the Black family traits like a temper, stubbornness and attitude, but in general she is the kindest of the lot (though that is not saying much). She has a mother's instinct and is always worrying and fusing over everyone within a ten-mile radius, no matter how she might feel towards them.

Andromeda often feels like she is living a double life. On one hand she is the proper trophy wife and mother who has House Elves to do the dirty work and people to yell at, but her true self loves to clean, cook and get dirty in the green houses. Though the only time she is ever able to enjoy these fancies is when her family isn't around to catch her doing it for fear of being caught doing House Elf work. Though many of the meals that the family eats is at least helped along by her and she does keep up a green house all by herself. She lets the House Elves pretend they are managing the green Houses, but in reality she won't let them touch anything.

The years have hardened Andromeda and while she is not as stuck up as Narcissa and not quite as abrasive as Bellatrix, she certainly has her moments. She has become accustomed to wearing fine clothing and getting things done her way and it is fairly easy to flare up her temper. She is loyal and extremely protective of her family, the Tonks side included. She has a hard time standing up for herself against bullies and has almost broken underneath the weight they have put on her through the years. Instead of breaking free when she was younger, she has been living a lie and she is mean spirited, pessimistic and miserable because of it.

Parents: Cygnus and Druella Black
Siblings: Bellatrix and Narcissa Black
Significant Other: Theodore Nott Sr.
Children: Theodore Nott Jr. and Selene Nott
Overall Family Dynamics:

History:
Andromeda Pyxis Black was born the middle child to the Black family in early March of 1953. Named after a constellation like her family before her, she was a delightful child. She played well with both of her sisters, but was closest with her youngest sister Narcissa. She enjoyed playing outside mostly and oftentimes got in trouble for dirtying her good clothes. She became a bit of a tomboy as she grew older and would challenge the neighbor boys as well as her cousins to tree climbing contests or races much to her mother's dismay.

Andromeda's magical abilities came much later than both of her sisters which meant that for a period during Andromeda's life she was looked down upon and almost sent away for being a squib. Luckily her abilities came a month before her 10th birthday while playing in the yard. She had been climbing in the trees in the back yard and as she went to go higher she lost her footing and fell, but never hit the ground. She went screaming into the house to tell her mother and father what had happened so she could gain their affection again. Her parents were pleased, but less so with Andromeda than her sisters.

When it was Andromeda's chance to go to Hogwarts she said goodbye to her parents and younger sister with tears in her eyes. She was afraid that her magical abilities were too weak for Hogwarts. It was Narcissa who comforted her before getting on the train. On the train to Hogwarts she sat in a room with three soon-to-be Slytherin girls. They all questioned each other on which house they wanted to be in. Andromeda knew that she had to be sorted into Slytherin since her whole family before her had been in it. She would do anything to please them. When the time came, the hat took this into consideration and sorted her into Slytherin though not without telling her that Hufflepuff would help her along her path and that she sorely lacked some of the qualities other Slytherins had.

Andromeda's first two years were hard on her. Not only did she have to live in Bellatrix's shadow, but she had a much harder time with classes than the other students and she was teased mercilessly for it. The only class that she ever seemed to get ahead in was Herbology. To make things worse, during her second year her parents announced that Andromeda's hand would be given away to the eldest Nott boy for marriage once she had graduated from Hogwarts. It was no secret that Andromeda was the least desirable Black sister. She wasn't as magically inclined as her sisters, was always falling over herself and wasn't nearly as gorgeous as Narcissa or even Bellatrix. Andromeda was horrified at the news, especially being so young. She had never thought about marriage before. Still, life went on.

It wasn't until her third year that she really came into who she was. She tried out for the Slytherin Quidditch team and made team chaser. Her parents gave her an awful time about it, but eventually let her stay on the team in order to have Andromeda gain some popularity for the family name. She ended up playing on the Slytherin team as Chaser until she graduated and was nick named the Black Widow after how vicious she became on a broom which was completely different to how she was otherwise.

Andromeda never really seemed to catch up with her classes, but slowly got better and began bringing home "acceptable" grades. In Andromeda's 6th year she was asked out by a Hufflepuff named Ted Tonks. She didn't know much about him and originally refused, not wanting to get involved with someone when her life after Hogwarts had already been planned. However they later began dating at his perusal without her knowledge of his magical heritage or rather lack thereof. It wasn't before long that Andromeda fell head over heels for Ted and they were inseparable. When she found out that he was a muggleborn she panicked and left Ted. Unable to stay away, Andromeda knew that she didn't really care where Ted came from and she hoped that her family would understand, or at least her sisters would. They remained together, but in secret.

During Andromeda's 7th year she got to get to know her cousin, Sirius Black. He was one of the only Blacks to not be sorted into Slytherin and Andromeda wondered how he had the strength to do so. The closer she became to Sirius the more she began to resent her parents for forcing her into a house that she didn't feel welcome in. She wished she had been sorted into Hufflepuff and told her parents so as soon as she graduated. This resulted in one of the three biggest fights she's ever had in her entire life and it left her feeling angry and upset. She left her Black family home to stay with Ted at his parent's house with no intention of ever going back. Andromeda finally confided in Ted about the person they had picked for Andromeda to marry and how she was afraid of the life it would give her. They started making plans for making their own way of life and everything in Andromeda's life felt right for the first time since she was a child.

She stayed there for about 6 months before she fell pregnant with Ted's child. When Andromeda found out she panicked, but opted to tell Ted about the child first. Ted was ecstatic thinking that they would get married and live a life full of love, he even proposed to her on the spot. Andromeda wanted very badly to say yes, but a very large part of her heart was still at home with her parents. She told Ted that she couldn't marry him without the consent of her father and the both of them left the next week back to the Black family home to try and get their blessing.

Bringing a muggleborn into the Black family home was probably the worst idea Andromeda has ever had. They hadn't even got to the big news before an enormous fight broke out and Andromeda had to leave with Ted. Still, Andromeda was stubborn and wanted her father's blessing much to Ted's dismay. She opted to go back to her family home one more time without Ted to give it another try. This resulted in Andromeda's last big fight, the one that sucked all of the life she had left out of her. The news that Andromeda was actually pregnant with Ted's child did not go over too well and her parents began to threaten her. They said all sorts of things about having the baby aborted and the father left for dead, but Andromeda was desperate to save her child's life and the life of her one true love. She told them she would do anything if only it meant that her child could live. They reached a compromise, Andromeda would marry the man they had picked for her, would keep the pregnancy a secret and never speak to Ted again except to give the child away and be done with it. The records would be doctored to show someone else as the mother of Ted and Andromeda's child. Andromeda agreed; although with a heavy heart.

Andromeda was not allowed to see Ted again to tell him the news and instead sent him an owl explaining everything. He was devastated and wrote about running away together and having that life they had always wanted, but Andromeda knew that her family would find her eventually especially since Andromeda had found out that her child was a Metamorphagus and would be useful in the war that was happening around her. Ted agreed to take the child when she was born and keep her a secret.

Nymphadora Tonks was born in 1972 to a midwife in the Black family home and for the second time in Ted's life he was allowed to come inside. He was there at Andromeda's side when it happened and they were left alone with their child only for a little while before the baby was thrust into Ted's hands and told to leave. Andromeda made sure that the baby would be named Nymphadora just before Ted was completely pushed out of the door and gone for good.

In late 1972 the Death Eaters were at their height of control and almost the entire Black family was involved in one way or another, including Andromeda's new fiance Theodore Nott Sr. She joined the Death Eaters to please them in early 1973, but never took a very active role. She was married to Theodore Nott Sr. in the summer of 1975 and began her life as a miserable trophy wife in a manor that she thought was much too large for the two of them.

Andromeda fell into a double life, that of a pristine trophy wife who stayed at home and never lifted a finger to help around the house, who attended social gatherings and wore expensive clothing and then that of a woman who took immense pleasure out of digging in the green houses, cleaning up after messes and cooking meals. She came to find that she was very good at concealing her passions from her husband who she was too afraid to confide in.

In 1979 Andromeda fell pregnant again, this time to her husband who had been harassing her for an heir. Andromeda had mixed feelings about this, but was overall happy to finally be able to be the mother to someone. Theodore Nott Jr was born in May of 1980. She had came up with many an excuse not to name their son Theodore, but it was a name that had been in the Nott family long before Andromeda was around and he being the first born, she lost that fight.

Andromeda fell into the mothering role fairly easily and took great pleasure in it. While Theodore did have a governess, Andromeda did most of the raising of Theodore and took a very active and protective role in his life. He was taught by private tutors and while Andromeda was usually the main parent in the house the two became very close over the years and Andromeda confided in Theodore at a young age about her passion for riding broomsticks and playing in the dirt, though Theodore understood this was something that he could never mention to the rest of the family.

Selene Nott was born in 1982 and Andromeda was ecstatic at having a chance to raise a little girl, though Selene often reminded her of Nymphadora and Selene would notice times that Andromeda would watch her with sad eyes.

When Theodore turned eleven and it was his time to go to school, Andromeda was devastated, even more so by Nott's refusal to let the child attend a school with Dumbledore in charge. Andromeda pleaded with him to let Theodore attend Hogwarts and since Narcissa got her way about Draco, Andromeda eventually got her way with Theodore as well. The cousins attended Hogwarts and Selene followed after.

Andromeda continued life the way it had been before Theodore and Selene came into her world, but now she had even more letters to write. She wrote to both Theodore and Selene every day and sent them things from home to keep them from being homesick. She worried and fused over them and was elated to see them when they came home during the holidays and the family would take trips across the world.
